ONE YEAR AGO TODAY

One year ago today, our sweet Olivia pulled a to-go cup of boiling hot tea off of the counter and onto her arm and chest. We were SO fortunate that there was a spill-proof lid on the cup that minimized the amount that got onto her skin. We immediately put her in the bath tub with cool water, gave her ibuprofen, then took her to the Emergency Room. This pic was taken when she was high on codeine after that first night in the ER.

A few days later we had to have follow-up care at the Grossmen Burn Center. We decided at that time that the best choice was for her to have a surgery that places a synthetic skin over the burn to prevent infection and minimize scarring. We had the surgery and Liv was in the hospital for one night to make sure that the new skin "took." These pictures were taken after the surgery.

And here we are today. After a year of sunscreen, Vitamin E lotion, prayer, and a little sleeve she always had to wear outside you can see there is hardly ANY scarring. Even the plastic surgeons were surprised at how little scarring there is.

Amazing, huh??

Isn't it wonderful to look back a year and realize that something hard would turn out a-okay? Liv is beautiful! Love, Leslie
