Lights Out!!

We had about 7 hours last night without electricity. I had picked up Liv and then due to a splitting headache I had decided to pick up a pizza. When we got home. . no electricity. It was very fun for me to see how everybody in our family in their uniqueness responded to the "crisis." Here are everyone's reactions from my point of view.

Carrie: initial reaction - I am so not up for this tonight. I have a headache. I'm very glad I picked up that pizza. When is Brad going to be here? later reaction - Hmm. I can't clean, I can't cook. No TV's or computers are on. I really like this candlelight thing. Guess I will just go to sleep at 8:30. Not bad!!

Brad: I still have two hours of power on my laptop. I shouldn't have let the kids play with all of the emergency flashlights because all of the batteries are dead. It is a good thing I kept all 50 of these old candles in a random box in the garage. They are really making a lot of light!

Olivia: I really don't like this. It is too dark. How are we going to sleep in the dark? Why did the lights go out? Do our neighbors have lights? What are we going to do if the lights aren't on tomorrow? How will they come back on? What if the candles burn down our house? Would the fire department come? Dad, stop lighting so many candles. I don't want our house to burn down. I don't like it when the electricity isn't working!

Jackson: Cool! I get to play with the flashlight! Dad, let's go. We'll be the heroes. I'll light the way for you! I love this flashlight in the dark! Can I keep this flashlight? Look, when I shine the light over there, I see the oven! I can shine the light over there and look at the pictures of me on the wall. Flashlights are cool. Can I put this flashlight in my backpack? This is a cool adventure!

Lucy: Whee. I like this. I can put anything I find in my mouth and no one will know. I like crawling through the house with no lights. Can you find me now?? Oh, another tasty treat!! Mom can't take it out of my mouth! Whee. Now I'll bet you can't find me!! Whee!
